Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) emergency alert systems can project both siren and voice recordings to alert and inform community members during a large-scale disaster. LRAD systems are highly effective in communicating warnings, instructions, and notifications throughout incident sites and over vast areas during life-threatening events.
This project is the first step in developing a comprehensive LRAD emergency warning network for the entire Novato Fire District. The initial phase is to inventory existing sites with warning systems such as fire stations and other public facilities. Building from existing infrastructure or potential public sites, additional zones will be identified to evaluate and plan for additional locations. The LRAD system would facilitate disaster notification and evacuation efforts.
