MWPA’s Resident Grant program integrates with the MWPA Defensible Space and Home Hardening Evaluation and other resources to help residents remediate issues found during the inspection. These resident grants will assist the Marin community with the creation of defensible space, hardening of structures and homes, and the creation of fire-adapted landscaping.
Program Goal
MWPA will operate local grant programs to assist residents (first focusing on those with Access and Functional Needs, aid to seniors and/or for financially disadvantaged) in reducing fire risks. MWPA currently administers the following grant programs to help residents within its jurisdiction make their homes and properties more resistant to wildfire. These programs are funded by Measure C “core funds” for cross-jurisdictional projects. Learn about the MWPA Grant Programs below. Residents can apply for the MWPA Defensible Space and Home Hardening Grant Programs here.
Other local grants opportunities are listed on the Fire Safe Marin Grants page, and require a separate application process. MWPA and local agencies coordinate grant funding decisions. While a resident may apply for multiple grant programs, the same Defensible Space or Home Hardening work cannot be funded twice. Please contact your local fire agency to learn more.
