Novato Fire Smart Demonstration Gardens
Novato Fire District’s Station 63 and administrative building had fire smart landscaping installed in 2023 and 2024. These gardens provide hands-on examples and model best practices for fire smart residential and commercial landscapes. The project includes the replacement of landscaping with plant choices that are fire smart, low water use, and high habitat value. Both gardens include interpretative signage that provides education on fire-smart landscaping and wildfire safety at home.
Novato Fire Adaptive Multimedia Campaign
Novato Fire works with communication consultants to assist with stronger public engagement. The multimedia fire adaptive community campaign will help provide an understanding of what makes a fire adaptive community. Additionally, the campaign will raise awareness of wildfire prevention, preparedness, and risk reduction programs, projects, and matching grant opportunities in Novato. The campaign uses targeted advertisements and branded outreach materials to engage a wide range of audiences in Novato.
