The hills surrounding the greater Novato community are served by a network of unpaved roads (aka "fire roads"). These roads cross both public parklands and private ranch lands and in some cases a road crosses multiple ownerships. These roads are important for emergency response, for recreational access, land management, and access to power, water, and telecommunication infrastructure. This project will inventory all unpaved roads on private and public lands, assess roads surface, drainage, and adjacent vegetation conditions, and develop a prioritized action plans for road improvements and vegetation management projects. The hills surrounding the greater Novato community are served by a network of unpaved roads (aka "fire roads").
